This was from the article: There was a significant gender split in the poll, with 36 percent of females identifying as LGBTQ as opposed to 23 percent of males.

I don't believe for a second that 23% of males identify as being LGBTQ. These kind of surveys usually focus in on certain demographics to get results they want to get.

I also don't think that 36% of females identify as LGBTQ, though the percentage might be significantly higher than with men.

One thing about women, being a lesbian can be more of a political statement than an actual lifestyle choice. I don't doubt that many women claim to be lesbian, or bi, but actually have no interest whatsoever in having sex with other women. They just say they are because they've been programmed into thinking it's something they "should" be.
