PGCE-P: Walt Whitman used to be one of the best public high schools in the country.

Used to be.

Classic TV Theme: Room 222 (Jerry Goldsmith)

David Gideon

Room 222 was a dramedy about a teacher and his students, much lower key than Welcome Back Kotter and taking on sensitive personal stories as well as humorous ones. It ran for five seasons (the last one shortened) and received several Emmy nominations. Jerry Goldsmith employed a 7/8 time signature in this theme giving it a quirky, off-center feel. In later seasons it was "freshened" with a few synthesizer gloops and you can compare the two versions and pick the one you like best.

ABC gave us the first "in charge" black lead male and female characters in one show, with a ditzy Karen Valentine as a hopelessly confused Whitey.50 years later, the formula is still embraced by all networks, but in 1970,it was an anomoly--today it's the norm.

I remember that TV show but didn't watch it much, I actually remember the Mad Magazine parody of Room 222 better. It was titled "Room 22zzzzzz", and poked fun at the "perfect racial balance" of the show. I wonder if Mad Magazine does humor like that anymore in the era of BLM and cancel culture. Probably not.

NBC WILL NOT AIR THE GOLDEN GLOBES NEXT YEAR.THEY ALSO LIE THROUGH THEIR TEETH ABOUT THE REASON WHY.

(Los Angeles Times)Throughout the scandal swirling around the Golden Globe Awards show, longtime broadcaster NBC appeared flat-footed — seemingly unprepared to tackle the crisis that was consuming one of its biggest live TV events.

Since late February, the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn., the group that owns the lucrative Golden Globes franchise, has been at the center of a furor over alleged ethical lapses, self-dealing and a lack of Black members — revelations that surfaced in a Los Angeles Times investigation.
(GRA:The article is the LA Times saying,"LOOK what we have accomplished"(nothing).

NBC, which has broadcast the Golden Globe Awards show annually since 1996, was slow to recognize the intensity of the highly charged atmosphere over race and diversity and the level of frustration that existed among producers and publicists who had chafed for years under the demands of the free-wheeling group of 86 foreign journalists who vote on the Golden Globes. NBC also was stunned by the speed in which Hollywood turned on an awards show it had long embraced.

The Times’ report prompted much debate within NBC over its role and the future of the Golden Globes, according to interviews with several knowledgeable insiders. NBC executives said they took the concerns seriously, but felt hamstrung by their lucrative business entanglements.

Although NBC declined to comment for this story, several company executives now privately acknowledge they made several public relations miscalculations.

Instead of taking a leadership role, the venerable broadcaster’s hand ultimately was forced by prominent producers Shonda Rhimes and Ava DuVernay, A-list actors Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson, the Time’s Up organization, a coalition of publicists and rival streaming giants Netflix and Amazon Studios.

Facing an embarrassing boycott of next year’s awards show by much of the industry, NBC announced Monday that it was pulling the plug on the 2022 Golden Globes telecast to give the HFPA, which was formed in 1943, time to carry out a series of planned reforms.

GRA:Translation:NBC understands that there is no audience who desires to watch blacks taking over award shows--alongside White commies who mouth off against their own race--for three hours.Ratings are crashing and this is a necessary way to get out of another financially disastrous airing in 2022.The report blames NBC as being "slow on transforming these(black)issues"--which is wrong.NBC has replaced White oriented shows with black ones, loaded up their NNN roster with minorities and destroyed the "Tonight Show" with mostly black guests.

It's all comes down to money and award shows are losing plenty of it--which NBC,by dumping the Golden Globes, has at least acknowledged, cannot continue unabated.

GOOD RIDDANCE.

Hoax stuff really old. A big joke. But taken so seriously. Again, that the bad guys have to even perpetrate these hoaxes seems to suggest how few of these racial incidents are for real.
