How does this work exactly? I'm not sure because I haven't read the bill but the cost for this is going to be "enormous", as stated in the article. So who really bears the cost? The taxpayer yet again? It occurs to me that the renters or home owners who worked their butts off to make payment or pay rent are going to get nothing for their efforts while deadbeats are going to get paid off, or pass costs on to landlords and mortgage holders. My parents always owned multiple homes and rented them out, something that enabled them to retire fairly comfortably (though not rich), but if they had owned homes during the time of Covid and got stuck with just one or two bad tenants, it would have devastated our family financially. Owning multiple homes does not make a person rich, most of the time it's a lot of hard work and often a risky investment that can be subject to the whims of the real estate market. the likes of Ilhan Omar thinks just because somebody owns more than one home they must be filthy rich and are responsible for subsidizing irresponsible people.
And her colleague is under investigation for not REPORTING the comment? This is as in the old Soviet Union.
