As part of our continuing series “Assignment America,” Steve Hartman meets a retired salesman from Los Angeles who shares a special bond with a Gray Toulouse goose named Maria.
N.S.: It turned out that “Maria” was actually “Mario.” His human friend is named Dominic Ehrler.
In 2011, Mario was given to the Los Angeles Zoo, where he was housed in the Children’s Exhibit, where Dominic would visit him under casual conditions. Mario died on June 29, 2018, at the age of nine, due to old age, according to zoo officials.

MRI studies have proven that dogs feel love the same as you do--the same chemicals in the same part of the brain. They feel, they suffer, they love just like us. We should all be kinder to animals--but not to Democrats.
