In Fort Worth, One Picture is Worth a Thousand Questions

N.S.: “Victoria DeLeon, top left, and her five children, with their father, Antonio Sanchez, top right.” The caption for saving the pic says, “The DeLeon family,” but that’s not proper. There is no “DeLeon family,” or any family at all, in the photo. The picture shows a woman, her boyfriend, and their five bastard children. Why would the parents have so many kids, without ever getting married? The mostly likely answer: The parents were engaged in massive welfare fraud.

“A 22-year-old mother of five killed early Saturday in a drive-by shooting was struck in the side by a bullet that bounced off her baby’s crib, said Josie DeLeon, the woman’s mother.”

ATR: What would Fred Reed think?

Dying mother’s final act was to hold her baby one last time

"A 22-year-old woman was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital after suffering two gunshot wounds, but died soon after being transported."

N.S.: How many people live in the same "house"? What does Antonio Sanchez do for a living?

The gangster of love was more of a gangster of drugs.

My own mother is sickened by how Mother's Day has been observed in Corpus Christi, Texas. The local newspaper, The Corpus Christi Caller Times (in deep trouble, like many newspapers) in the past has gleefully presented young unwed hispanic mothers as models of motherhood.

Mom isn't prejudiced. She is simply grieved at the bad prospects of unwed mothers (of any race) with children on their hands which they can't take care of without real husbands. Like me, she is baffled about why this is now acceptable.

With all due respect to the hispanic population of Corpus Christi, I would like to think that not all local hispanics accept the local newspaper's standards of morality.
