dei Venus Williams--now 45--receives exemption to gum up the u.s. open one more time.
GRA: Williams hasn't been competitive in years, yet was given a spot in the field. She'll play czech Karolina Muchova, the 12th seed in the first round tomorrow night.
Maybe Williams will hire the two african brothers who helped Smollett attempt his hoax and have them clobber Muchova in her hotel. Then Williams might have a chance to win a point or two.
abc noise is calling this "historic"--of course. Hysterically ridiculous is more like it.

Shocked to tell you that Williams won a set--the second one. Otherwise,about as expected:Muchova by a 6-3,2-6,6-1 score.
Did Muchova play blindfolded in the second set?
