"beirut (ap) — pagers used by hundreds of members of the militant group hezbollah exploded near simultaneously in lebanon and syria on tuesday, killing at least nine people — including an 8-year-old girl — and wounding several thousand, officials said. hezbollah and the lebanese government blamed Israel for what appeared to be a sophisticated, remote attack.
"among those wounded was iran’s ambassador to lebanon. the mysterious explosions came amid rising tensions between Israel and iran-backed hezbollah, which have exchanged fire across the Israel-lebanon border since the oct. 7 attack by hummus that sparked the war in gaza.
"the pagers that blew up had apparently been acquired by hezbollah after the group’s leader ordered members in february to stop using cellphones, warning they could be tracked by Israeli intelligence. a hezbollah official told the associated press the pagers were a new brand, but declined to say how long they had been in use.
at about 3:30 p.m. local time on tuesday, as people shopped for groceries, sat in cafes or drove cars and motorcycles in the afternoon traffic, the pagers in their hands or pockets started heating up and then exploding — leaving blood-splattered scenes and panicking bystanders.

Mohammed told them 1200 years ago,"NO PAGERS!"

In the movie version of this, I'm going to have Muhammad calling the Rajiv at tech support in Bomb-ay, where Rajiv tells him (stereotypical high-pitch rapid-speed tech support voice here) "You want to hit Reply All, you see Reply All? Hit Reply All, that will fix the problem for you." and a couple seconds later there's boom boom boom again, 3000 times more. Rajiv again, "Please remember to complete the survey."

The hezbollah leader ordered the pagers? How did somebody anticipate he would do that? I guess someone could have gotten intelligence about the order and then weaponized the pagers but who uses pagers anymore? If it was cell phones, yeah, everybody has them. Sounds like some kind of inside job.
Israel Unleashes Hell On South Lebanon With Giant Mystery Bomb As War Escalates(even rumors of tactical nuke).

(ZH)): Massive escalation along the southern Lebanese border is very clear at this point, as Israeli jets have pounded Hezbollah positions through much of Saturday.
Al Jazeera correspondents have confirmed that "Israel’s military launched 400 attacks on Lebanon on Saturday and Hezbollah fired rockets at the Ramat David base near the city of Haifa, in their largest exchange of fire since the war on Gaza began."
Another indicator of the escalation is that Israel is apparently beginning use much bigger bombs compared to much of the past nearly year of internecine fighting. The below widely circulating footage shows a large flash and skyscraper-size fireball, resulting in some viewers speculating it was likely a heavy bunker-buster bomb, or possibly even a tactical nuke of some sort. Whatever it was, there's never been anything like it used on Lebanon (that we know about).

INTERESTING--ISRAEL SAYS THEY HAD "NOTHING TO DO WITH PAGER EXPLOSIONS."
(Zh)The Israeli government had “no connection” to widespread pager attacks that left dozens of people dead and thousands injured in Lebanon, the Israeli president said in a Sunday interview.

In an interview with Sky News, Israeli President Isaac Herzog denied claims made by Iran and the Hezbollah terrorist group that Israel was behind the widespread attacks carried out via exploding pagers and walkie-talkies that left dozens dead and thousands injured.
“First of all, I reject out of hand any connection to this or that source of operation,” Herzog responded to a reporter’s question about whether Israel was involved.
Two waves of explosions erupted across Lebanon last week, reportedly targeting members of Hezbollah, which runs Lebanon’s government.
In the first attack, which primarily impacted pagers, some 12 people died and thousands were injured, officials said. In the second, 25 people died and 600 were injured.
GRA:Another whodunit. I guess better not to rub their noses in their exploded pagers too.
