This is no documentary. A mockumentary, is more like it.
Every one of the Hollywood Ten was a card-carrying Communist, who wished to steal the property and assets of over 100 million Americans, throw millions of American citizens into gulags simply for disagreeing with them, and slaughter millions more. Ditto for John Berry, who made this propaganda film.
The Hollywood Ten had a choice when they went before the House. They could tell the truth—“Yes, I was (or am) a member of the Communist Party,” or “I wish to invoke my Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.”
But that wasn’t good enough for them. They wanted, instead, to read ludicrous speeches that had been scripted for them by the Communist Party in Moscow, and brought over here in diplomatic pouches. Their refusal to either confess or take the Fifth, made them guilty of contempt of Congress.

“Who were the Hollywood Ten? This 1950 documentary gives us a closer look at the ten blacklisted film writers and directors who defied the government and the sentiments of their day by refusing to testify during the HUAC anti-Communist hearings. John Berry, who directed the documentary, was blacklisted himself upon its release.’ (Ironweed Films)”

Now commies blacklist Americans.

The Ten "fled" to Mex where they worked for a year writing under false names, living a palatial life style even beyond what they had in the States. Exile lasted only one year and returned back to the USA.
