I am currently in new york city visiting a relative, and she told me how a black kid threw a water bottle at her head right after she stepped out of her apartment building.
She's 86 years old. This was on sutton place in manhattan. At one time, everybody you saw on that street was almost always White, but now you see a diverse array of characters walking around. She lost her husband 20 years ago and lives alone, and can't walk to a restaurant or store anymore without feeling afraid.

Becoming the norm now.

Fifty years ago I used to ride the Rock Island commuter train to downtown Chicago every day. We used to receive a shower of rocks thrown at us every day when we passed through the "colored" area of town.
