That was mets skipper Buck Showalter a few minutes ago, during his postgame press conference, following the mets’ anti-climactic final game victory, 9-2, sweeping the nats in their three-game series. A sportswriter asked Showalter for the game 1 starter in the playoffs, against san diego. Buck thought it was unimportant, but the writer said it would help with “coverage.”
All the mets had to do was win one game against the braves in their penultimate series, but they choked, with Jake deGrom, Max Scherzer, and Kevin Bassitt all losing to atlanta.
