Cancel Culture Moves on ...

AOF: As I've said to a friend regarding the ongoing self-immolation of Western civilization, "It's slavery all the way down."

N.S.: Scratch a "humanitarian" just a little, and the genocidal racist comes out.

AOF: Here's Thomas Sowell on the subject:

Many of those who talk "non-judgmental" rhetoric out of one side of their mouths are quick to condemn the evils of "our society" out of the other side.  Worse, they condemn American society or Western civilization for sins that are the curse of the human race all across the planet.  Indeed, they condemn the West for sins that are worse in many non-Western societies.

Perhaps the classic case is slavery.  The widespread revulsion which this hideous institution inspires today was largely confined to Western civilization a century ago, and a century before that was largely confined to a portion of British society.  No one seems interested in the epic story of how this curse that covered the globe and endured for thousands of years was finally gotten rid of.  It was gotten rid of by the West-- not only in Western societies but in other societies conquered, controlled, or pressured by the West.

The resistance put up by Africans, Asians, and Arabs was monumental in defense of slavery, and lasted for more than a century.  Only the overwhelming military power of the West enabled it to prevail on this issue, and only the moral outrage of Western peoples kept their governments' feet to the fire politically to maintain the pressure against slavery around the world.  Of course, this is not the kind of story that appeals to the multiculturalists.  If it had been the other way around-- if Asian or African imperialists had stamped out slavery in Europe-- it would still be celebrated, in story and song, on campuses across America.

What's "slavery"?

Underpaying someone to work? Then I was a "slave"--making $2.00 an hour to work at a bowling alley as a machine mechanic/cashier--back in the late 70s.

Most fun job I ever had.

NOT FIRED! UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN’S BASKETBALL COACH, JUWAN HOWARD, SUSPENDED FIVE GAMES
(WBCK)
WBCK Reporter follows:
Yesterday I published a piece titled “Should University of Michigan coach, Juwan Howard, be fired?”. Yesterday the University of Michigan answered that question with a big NO!

The Detroit News reported that the “Big Ten, in collaboration with Michigan and Wisconsin, announced Monday that Juwan Howard has been suspended for the final five regular-season games and fined $40,000 for his role Sunday’s postgame altercation when he struck Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft in the head”.

Howard received that suspension for the following:
(Video)

A coach who physically attacks a person on a Big Ten basketball court only gets a 5 game suspension. That certainly is giving a great example to the young men on those teams. Many sports analysts were predicting he might not be fired but if not he would or should be suspended for the rest of the season, including any post-season games.

(GRA:The "example" is intentional and calculated:Show how much latitude blacks get in all areas of criminal behavior. This wasn't even during a game--where a pass is often given for assault and battery--it was afterwards!)

In a statement Juwan Howard said:

After taking time to reflect on all that happened, I realize how unacceptable both my actions and words were, and how they affected so many. I am truly sorry...I am offering my sincerest apology to my players and their families, my staff, my family and the Michigan fans around the world. I would like to personally apologize to Wisconsin's assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft and his family, too.

He went on to say:

Lastly, I speak a lot about being a Michigan man and representing the University of Michigan with class and pride, I did not do that, nor did I set the right example in the right way for my student-athletes. I will learn from my mistake and this mistake will never happen again.

Very nicely written words, the question with any apology is, do they truly mean it, he may. We will have to see how he acts for the rest of his career.

GRA:We KNOW with 100% accuracy, what would have happened,if during a blue moon,on the 29th of February and on a day that Halley's comet passed by--and a White coach hit a black coach--he'd be sent to hang figuratively--or maybe LITERALLY--from a tree.

Here,in this incident,you can't fire the black(shake my head).

Whitey and whitey culture are supposed to be better. When whitey acts bad he is in violation of his ideals. Othe cultures and societies do not even dwell on the fact that for instance "slavery" is evil or should be abolished. To them such notions are quaint. When other societies and cultures misbehave they are just acting according to their basic nature.
