I don't know who influenced who,but Letterman--a guy who was a savage critic towards all in the 90s--became a Dem commiserater by 2005.Playing Bush outtakes was hilarious--and Bush earned his barbs and criticism the old fashioned way--by being a natural born idiot.

Still,once Obama came on the scene,Letterman was lacerating FOX News often--but never Obama.

It's possible the open heart surgery Letterman underwent in 2000,mellowed him out somewhat,but if that was the reason for his shift to the left--what was Jon Stewart's excuse--an undetected,massive stroke?

Since that time,comedy has never been the same.
