I remember Eric Beebe’s comments well, even through the fog of alcohol.

Eric had hosted a $1,000 per plate dinner years ago in the Park Cities here in Dallas. He had done so in order to raise funds to bring William F. Buckley to speak at the University of Dallas.

I had run into Eric at TGI Fridays in Plano in December of 1992. Both he and I had been drinking.

“-----, I have a son!,” he said to me after I warned him of the coming Balkanization of this country.

Fast forward to today’s headline news.

I hate to say, “I told you so.”

But I told him so.
