The run-up to civil war, then and now
The South "spread narratives of victimhood"? That makes it sound like their grievances against the North were unjustified. The North was exploiting the South economically, while treating them like hillbilly trash-a situation which is indeed similar to how "conservatives" are being treated today. Lincoln denied them their constitutional right to secede, which parallels the current continually-thwarted efforts of rural areas in some states to break away from the death-grip of urban centers. Lincoln finally manipulated the South into war in order to vanquish them, a la FDR with Japan and the current efforts to provoke Russia into violence so they can be blasted off the earth.
The trouble with Civil War, as Barnhardt has pointed out, is that there's no Mason-Dixon Line separating the combatants-every state has its urban centers filled with bad guys. And if the East and West coast cities did secede, Middle America would easily be outflanked-especially if China sends in troops! And most Whites these days are so drugged-up they couldn't fight an army of girl scouts.

Slavery was a great evil and we are still suffering from it today. The greedy and immoral lived off the work of others and we are still suffering from their crimes today. The Confederate states should have been forced to pay for sending all the freed blacks back to Africa. The same kind of greedy people are still harming us today doing the same kind of thing--using cheap illegal alien labor instead of paying enough so Americans would do the jobs. Now we have a huge population of imported criminals of every sort to join the ghetto blacks resulting from slavery.
Yes,since they were not citizens, the blacks should have been deported back--all expenses paid.
