"chicago (wls) -- a drive-by shooting left one woman dead and another injured [sic] on chicago's far south side early saturday morning, police said.

"chicago police said the shooting happened in the east side neighborhood near east 102nd street and south avenue j just before 1:15 a.m.

"two women were standing in a parking lot with a crowd when a blue vehicle drove by, and someone inside fired shots, police said.

"police said the chicago fire Department treated a 29-year-old woman, who suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. she was transported in critical condition to the university of chicago medical center, where she was pronounced dead.

"cfd also treated a 37-year-old woman, who was shot in the leg, police said. she was taken to the same hospital in good condition.

"police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
