EVER HEAR OF "JOE CAIN DAY"? IT'S THE REASON nEGROES FLOODED MOBILE, ALABAMA STREETS SUNDAY--AND WHY NINE OF THEM WOUND UP GETTING SHOT (ONE NIG NAPPED)
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Witnesses recall the terrifying moments after back-to-back shootings in downtown Mobile Sunday night, during "Joe Cain Day", leaving one person dead and multiple people injured.
“I mean it was kind of total chaos,” said Calla Ethridge, a witness.
Police responded to Dauphin and Joachim streets shortly after 11 last night after authorities say seven people were shot. Red and yellow tape blocked off the scene as police searched for clues. Right now, investigators are still looking for a suspect and trying to figure out what led up to this.
Witness describes “chaotic” scene
Calla Ethridge tells me she was working on Dauphin last night when she felt something was off.
“Everybody was grouping up going down the streets going back-and-forth. A few little fights broke out here and there(GRA:"few little fights"--normal for nigg events))Basically the shots got fired and then everybody started running chaotic crazy but you know I commend all the bars on Loda. They were kind of ready to go, knowing what to do. They locked their people in and kept the people safe. We didn’t let no one in, no one out,” Ethridge said.
Less than five minutes after that mass shooting, Mobile police headed a block away to a robbery in a parking lot on Government Street. Investigators say 28 shots were fired there. One witness who wants to remain anonymous says he saw everything unfold outside his camper.
“I woke up with three gunshots going off or a couple of shots, looked out my window and saw I guess it was the guy that passed, fall down on the ground just shooting. It was just a grisly scene really,” the witness said.
Mobile Police Chief William Jackson says the suspect in this case is 21-year-old Javeli Alexander.
“The perpetrator of the robbery succumbed to his injuries. The victim of the robbery was also injured, but has been treated and released,” Jackson said.
(GRA: Alexander tried to rob someone and got nig napped.)
Chief Jackson also says 45-50 officers were moved to Dauphin and Joachim minutes before all the shots were fired. He says they do have surveillance video and are reviewing it. In the meantime, he urges anyone with information to call police.
GRA: "Joe Cain Day" involves (according to google) a mythical person who comes to Mobile during "Fat Tuesday."
He must carry a semi-automatic weapon, this "Joe Cain." Mobile is 51% black.
