(AtlantaPD) On 1/22/2026, Investigators with the Atlanta Police Department's Homicide Unit secured arrest warrants for Prentiss Mayo (DOB 4/1986) in reference to Homicide #6 that occurred on 1/22/26 at 520 Emily PL NW. Mr. Mayo was taken into custody by Zone 1 officers and was transported to Grady Detention(GRA: Mayo "transported to Grady Detention"--hilarious coincidence"). Upon release, Mr. Mayo will be transported to Fulton County Jail. Mayo will be charged the following: -Murder -Aggravated Assault -Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony Charges and Criminal History outlined below: Mr. Mayo has 3 criminal cycles out of GA for Narcotics & DUI. Mr. Mayo also has an active warrant for probation violation out of Carrollton PD for the charge of DUI. Preliminary Information: On 01/22/06, around 2am, officers responded to 520 Emily Place NW in reference to a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with a gunshot wound. Atlanta Fire Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased. Officers detained a possible suspect on scene. He was transported to Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters to be interviewed by homicide investigators. The Fulton County Medical Examiner will determine the manner of death by autopsy.
