That line-up, getting shut out, when the season is on the line, is a travesty. Whatever hundreds of millions they spent on this team's salary was a waste. 83-79 doesn't cut it.

Alonso wants out of metsville, will test free agent market
"(cbs sports) new york mets first baseman Pete Alonso told reporters following sunday's season finale against the miami marlins that he intends to opt out his contract this winter and test free agency. Alonso's announcement came after the mets were eliminated from postseason contention.
"playing for this organization, this city, they've continued to believe in me. I've loved playing here,' he said. 'there's some great guys in this clubhouse, there's some great people on the staff. every single day, it's been a pleasure coming to work and putting on the orange and blue. I've really appreciated it and have been nothing but full of gratitude every single day. nothing is guaranteed, but we'll see what happens. I've loved being a met. GRA: Getting Soto was irrelevant.

In 2008, we needed to beat the Marlins on the last day of the season, in order to make the playoffs. Future Hall of Famer Tom Glavine, our top starter, took the hill, in his last start for the Mets. Glavine didn't make it out of the first inning, giving up seven runs in two-thirds of an inning, and then poo-poohed the importance of his choke-job. In 2025...

Juan Soto will get injured next year in April and be out for the season. Aren't I an optimist?
