WKRP's Loni Anderson (Burt Reynolds' wife at one time) is back at her desk at the radio station after going off the air--personally--at 79

“los angeles (ap) — Loni Anderson, who played a struggling radio station’s empowered [?] receptionist on the hit tv comedy wkrp in cincinnati, died Sunday, just days before her 80th birthday.

“Anderson died at a Los Angeles hospital following a “prolonged” illness, said her longtime publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan.

“'we are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother,' Anderson’s family said in a statement.

WKRP in Cincinnati aired from 1978 to 1982 and was set in a flagging ohio radio station trying to reinvent itself with rock music. the cast included Gary Sandy, Tim Reid, Howard Hesseman, Frank Bonner and Jan Smithers, alongside Anderson as the sexy and smart Jennifer Marlowe.”

GRA: And a combative relationship with Burt Reynolds. I suspect there might be a restraining order in the afterlife to keep those two away from each other. Burt was the first guest on The Afterlife Tonight Show, which I brought to NSU/WEJB's attention in 2018, though the show had obviously been running since Johnny's death in 2005.

I always thought Loni Anderson had the strangest cleavage of any large breasted woman I remember seeing. Maybe she had breast reduction or SOMETHING,but she didn't look like Ann Margaret or Dian Parkinson--and others who were mammarily endowed.

N.S.: More likely, she'd had a boob job. They weren't common at the time, but some actresses were getting them. And she must have been a talented actress, if she could play a smart girl, assuming her obit can be believed.

I never saw her in anything, but take a look at her photo in the NYT obit- if it wasn't for her having had kids, I'd swear that was a man. Looks like a caricature of Carol Channing, who was ALREADY a caricature. Sorry to speak ill of someone who just passed on... but jeez, people have some strange ideas about what makes a woman attractive. Especially in Hollywood.

WKRP, along with Taxi, my favorite sitcom from the 70's. Smartly written with a tremendous ensemble cast and woke before woke became a thing. I could tolerate the politics because it was so funny and for what could possibly be the funniest line ever written: "As god as my witness, I thought turkey's could fly"
BTW, I never cared for Loni Anderson's looks either, I was always put off by thick lips on women, it's just not right for White women, the Angelina Jolie look never appealed to me.

Danny Devito's "Louie",is the funniest character in tv history. Archie Bunker was second, but probably tied for first the initial 3-4 seasons of "All in the Family". Then he just got less funny every season. Louie never disappointed in five seasons of Taxi.

Agreed, and he was especially funny when playing off Jim, who could give Archie a run for his money as the 2nd funniest character ever. Comedy gold.
