A Little Snippet about Bob

[“The Great Bob Newhart Ends His Multi-Decade Comedy Gig at Age 94… but He May Yet Do Cameos on The Afterlife Tonight Show! (Legendary Recording)”]

“(npr) Bob Newhart won his first Emmy award, in 2013, for his guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory. The following year, npr asked Newhart if there were any failures in his life or career that troubled him.

“‘No, I’ve lived in an incredible time,’ he answered. ‘I’ve lived in the days of Johnny Carson, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin — incredibly rewarding times.... I could never look on my life as a failure — it’s far beyond anything I ever thought I would attain.”

Such humility was a fitting attitude for a performer who became a comedy legend by acting like the buttoned-down guy next door.

Recently I sent an article about Meagan Good, that actress we never heard of who claimed to have been barraged by the n word growing up. Somebody identified only as Anonymous posted a hilarious sendup of This is Your Life imaging this Ms. Good being on the show. I loved it and decided to add a little more. I hope Anonymous doesn't mind, most credit goes to him (or her), I'm just humbly building on it a bit more. Credit GRA also, it's in his style of parody. Here it is:

So we invite Meagan Good (who?!?) to a revival of This is Your Life, starring Ralphtravious da'Edwards, who presents an hour-long parade of people re-enacting these childhood "memories".

"Listen to this next voice, Meagan..."

"n***** n***** n*****"

Good: (Collapses in her chair, starts shaking and crying) "I...I...hear those words and the fear and terror all comes back to me....Why....? How can you...."?

da'Edwards: "Now wait a second Meagan, let's play it again..."

Good: "No...no....it's too painful, I can't take it...please stop..."

da'Edwards: "Just listen again Meagan, more carefully...you might be in for a surprise..."

"n****** n****** n*******

Good: (listens again, stops crying and shaking, perks up) "Wait....I recognize that voice...Omigod, is that...that...."

da'Edwards: "Yes, Meagan, it's none other than Urethra Jenkins your bestie from childhood from the only other black family in your neighborhood"!

[Urethra steps out from behind curtain]

Good: (now happy and fully recovered) Girlfriend!!! "How have you been, omigod it's been like forever"!

Urethra: (sits down in chair) "Just keepin' it real girl, you know how it is"

Da'Edwards: "Now from what I understand you two have been bff's since you first met, what drew you two together"?

Good: "Well, when you're the only two black girls in the neighborhood....you know, but we haven't seen each other for ages"

Urethra: "We were tight until about freshman year in high school but then drifted apart"

da'Edwards: What happened?

Urethra: (voice gets an edge to it) "We were fine until the bitch started f****ng my older brother Dontrell...then my cousin Taushawn...then my 40 yr. old uncle....14 yr. old ho was giving up her nasty ass p*&%y to every nigga that looked at her sideways"!

Good: "At least I can get a man, nobody wants your gorilla looking jet black fat ass"

Urethra: "Better than being a high yellow twig ho"

Good: "jigaboo"

Urethra: "wannabe"

da'Edwards: "Now now ladies...cain't we all just get along" (winks at crowd)

[audience laughs]

Good: (gets up out of her chair) "I'll beat your monkey ass right now bitch"

Urethra: (gets up also, picks up her chair menacingly) "You and what n*****r army"

da'Edwards: (chuckles nervously, steps in between) "Ladies, ladies, let's just take a deep breath here. (camera zooms in on suave smile, gold teeth flash) I think it's time for a message from our sponsors, when we come back we'll have another pivotal figure in Ms. Good's life who helped influence her to become the wonderful crusading social justice warrior she is today, and also shaped her into an ambassador of the cultural diversity and vibrancy that black America brings to this great country of ours"

[audience cheers and applauds vigorously]

I imagine that type of show getting picked up and produced every week--as if we need more nig tv.But the whole concept and parody of "This is Your Life" is good.Personally,I could see one voice being piped in from the past...then another voice starts arguing with the first voice and another--then some gunshots.

This WAS your life...Urethra Jenkins.
