The difference between now and the 1970s was the lack of news coverage of this stuff.I NEVER heard of this topic on WOODTV(gratefully).News was news--they only had a half hour at 6 and 11pm and stuck to reporting stories--not agitating.News departments did not cover all the crap that pervades todays 24/7 news stations--which is part of the problem.Too much local news on TV and a percentage of it is devoted to "diversity and equality stories."I heard that phrase at least 5 times today on WOKE(my call letters for WOOD now-- and WZZM is no better.They're indistinguishable in their wokeness.)
The black HAS free speech to not suffer the consequences that Whites would if they had opined in this manner.
Another difference from the 70s.
