TCM’s Film Noir of the Week Saturday Night-Sunday Morning at 12:30 and 10 a.m. is Delmer Daves’ The Red House (1947) with Edward G. Robinson, Lon McCallister, Allene Roberts, Judith Anderson, Rory Calhoun and Julie London.
Film Noir Guide: “Robinson, a crippled farmer with a dark secret that has driven him mad and paralyzed him with fear, and his devoted sister (Anderson) discourage their ward (Roberts) from venturing in to the surrounding woods to locate an ominous red house. Hired hand McCallister can’t be stopped, however, and he and Roberts join forces to uncover a 15-year old mystery.”
“Gorgeous Julie London is McCallister’s fickle high school sweetheart, and Calhoun is the armed guardian of the woods. Strong performances, eerie photography, and a haunting musical score do wonders for this otherwise slow-moving noir.”

Sorry I neglected to mention TCM is showing Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1927) tonight at 8 pm ET. It's on right now.
Julie London,got married to Jack Webb,starting the year this movie came out--and it lasted until somebody's "Seven Year Itch" erupted,in 1954.
Jack Webb--not exactly Cary Grant--must have been thrilled to have Miss London in a honeymoon suite on that July 21st day in 1947.He was a big time producer--she was a starlet.
"Are you going to pour me a drink?"
"Yes ma'am."
Are we going to remove our clothes?"
"We should."
"Are we going to have sex?"
"You bet."
There's a clipping of the marriage announcement from Larry Harnisch's "Daily Mirror" story I viewed.Also a report that when London and Webb divorced, she made a bundle--including "Dragnet" money.
"He'd come home from work and just sit there--and not say anything."
GRA:He probably didn't marry her for conversation though,did you Mr.Webb?
"No sir."
