Simple question: What would the news be like this morning if Rock had insulted Mel Gibson’s wife and Mel Gibson walked up on stage and smacked Chris Rock and then proceeded to yell profanities at Rock on prime time television?
For that matter, what if ANY white male had done the same?
This morning, Smith is being excused, heralded, praised, and only slightly criticized. “He’s just a man defending his wife from the tasteless joke of a crass comedian”.
Here’s what I see:
1. The Oscars sinking to a new low (and I thought that was impossible but yet they continue to alienate the six people who still watch that crap).
2. Hollywood continuing to demonstrate its irrelevance.
3. Yet another black man who can’t control his emotions.
4. Yet another black man who resorts to violence.
5. More excusing by the media of a black man who can’t control his emotions and resorts to violence.
