jeigheff said...: I don't want to defend the shooter. But I can't help but wonder if he is a vigilante, perhaps motivated by revenge. Some of the criminals in the news lately, like the NYC subway pushers, have been homeless people with long rap sheets.

Years ago, I read an account of a homeless black guy who savaged a white woman after he asked her for a light or spare change. (I might have read the story here.) The guy was free a couple weeks later. He even bragged about his brutality to another potential female victim he was menacing. I couldn't help but think . . . well, maybe the world would be better off without this guy in it.

Of course, it's entirely possible that the shooter is just evil, especially if his victims don't have mch in the way of criminal histories.
