Man Charged With Murder in Attack of 70-Year-Old Off-Duty Deputy in San Bernardino

War crime victim Lawrence “Larry” Falce

By Reader-Researcher A.L.

This is normally the type of crime that would warrant the death penalty. Repeat offender, attacking a police officer, the officer a senior citizen. Once you hear that first name [of the assailant] you know a colored man committed the crime.

At KTLA.

[None of the outlets where we read stories on this crime provided photos of war crime suspect, Alonzo Leron Smith, 30.]

If you search you will find a perp by the same name was arrested before for carrying a gun while riding in a car full of his fellow CRIPS (a mostly black gang). He was originally sentenced to 12 years but it was overturned because a judge threw out the gang enhancement. Apparently the "judge" claimed that just because he was armed and riding with gangsters didn't mean he intended to use the gun to support the gang's crimes. I guess maybe he was just a novelist gathering material for his next best seller. He carried a gun because, well, how can you know what it feels like to be a black gangster unless you know what it feels like to pack a gun? Anyway, if the judge hadn't decided that the poor dear didn't warrant a gang enhancement, he would still be in jail today and the poor deputy would be enjoying his retirement.

They need to search that vehicle of the perp closely to see if he was transporting drugs of a certain defined amount that qualifies as intent to distribute. That would make it part of a continuing racketeering conspiracy and make Alonzo a federal case with the death penalty as a possible.

Considering the likely defense if it goes to trial, are you thinking what I'm thinking?

David,

That hadn't even occurred to me, but now that you mention it, yes and very possibly, yes again.

It all depends on the jury demographics.

Yes, it will depend on the jury demographics. And note the above report says surveillance cameras "captured the two speaking."
