AP News reports that two National Guard soldiers were shot point-blank just outside the White House perimeter at 17th & H NW.
President Trump has responded, saying both soldiers have been critically wounded by the "animal that shot the two National Guardsmen" and said the attacker "will pay a very steep price." The president's words at this point imply a lone shooter in custody.

P.T. NAMES AFGHANISTAN INVADER AS THE SHOOTER OF TWO NATIONAL GUARD TROOPERS
11 pm
(BBC) Two National Guard soldiers are critically injured after being gunned down in Washington DC, less than two blocks from the White House, in what the city's mayor called a "targeted shooting".
Police said a lone suspect opened fire on two National Guard members from West Virginia on Wednesday afternoon, before being subdued by other National Guard nearby who had heard the gunfire.
President Donald Trump, who was in Florida at the time, said the alleged gunman was an Afghan national who entered the US in September 2021.
He vowed his administration would ensure the suspect "pays the steepest possible price" for "an act of evil, an act of hatred and an act of terror".
The Department of Homeland Security named the suspect in a press release as Rahmanullah Lakamal, "a criminal alien from Afghanistan". His immigration status was unclear.
Tens of thousands of Afghans entered the US under special immigration protections following the chaotic US withdrawal from that country in 2021 under former President joe biden.
"We must now re-examine every alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under biden," said Trump in a live address on Wednesday night.
(GRA: Keep them all out. No reason to be here.)
US Citizenship and Immigration Services said it had halted processing of all Afghan immigration requests pending a review of vetting protocols.

THE DAY AFTER "HATE CRIME" TERRORIST ATTACK:NEWLY HIRED GUARDSMAN WERE HIT BY A .357 REVOLVER
MULTIPLE TIMES;ILLEGAL PERP ALSO SHOT
(Fox noise)The two National Guards members shot just blocks from the White House the day before Thanksgiving in what officials called a "targeted" attack have been identified.
Sarah Beckstrom, 20, and Andrew Wolfe, 24, were in critical condition after undergoing surgery, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said during a press conference Thursday morning.
"I also want to say that both Sarah and Andrew, I believe, were sworn in less than 24 hours before they were shot on the street in Washington," Pirro said.
Beckstrom and Wolfe are members of the West Virginia National Guard, which was deployed to the nation’s capital to tackle crime in the city following an executive order from President Donald Trump earlier this year.

"They answered the call. They took the charge. They volunteered. They put their lives on the line for people they don't even know," Pirro said of the two Guard members.
Pirro spoke Thursday morning alongside FBI Director Kash Patel, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Brig. General Leland Blanchard of the National Guard. She provided new details about the shooting, including the weapon used by the suspect.

Beckstrom and Wolfe were in uniform near the Farragut West Metro station around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday when they were "ambushed" in "a brazen and targeted attack," Pirro said.
"A lone gunman opened fire without provocation, ambush style," she said. "Armed with a .357 Smith and Wesson revolver, one Guardsman is struck, goes down, and then the shooter leans over and strikes the Guardsmen again. Another Guardsman is struck several times."

Pirro said that other nearby Guardsmen immediately rushed the suspect. One responding Guardsman shot the suspect, who was quickly subdued.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was taken to a local hospital, where he remains under heavy guard, according to Pirro.
