Nelson Riddle discusses Frank Sinatra's two-octave vocal range (brief video)

By N.S.

N.S.: Two octaves? After his vocal chords hemorrhaged, circa 1951, and he needed surgery, there's no way he could have had a two octave range. Maybe during the 1940s, and even that's dubious. Harve Presnell sang in the opera as a baritone, and I ead that he had a 1.8 octave range in his prime.

Maybe by giving compliments,it kept him working through the sixties with Frank--including "Moonlight Sinatra" from 1966.

Tiny Tim had considerable vocal range, for what it's worth.
