Seriously,I'm sure the cops can tell--by their demeanor-- if a roommate had killed 4 people in the last 24 hours.If the roommates are ruled out,then you go to friends who had access.Rule them out and you go to...
The crime seems so far out of left field that only a lunatic,a homeless person(black?),a drug dealer(not likely going to kill 4 though)or an unknown category of person could have done this with such efficiency as to not alert the others during the first stabbing.If one of the females was fighting back--she must have screamed.True,we don't know the distance between each person's rooms--but sound travels.
Still,FOUR MURDERS?

Sure. The roommates were in the house at the time of the murders but were aware of nothing amiss. And waited for some time after "finding" before they called the cops.
The dead bodies were found dead? Most are.
