At WEJB/NSU, You Get “Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet!”
Originally posted on December 4, 2018
Quite a few of you will recall a patriotic, mid-1970s’ Chevy TV commercial that had the running refrain of “Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet!” (We play to an older demographic than Madison Avenue. That 18-34-year-old group is well nigh worthless, when it comes to patriotism.)
It meant everything great about America.
Here at WEJB/NSU, we give that phrase a different meaning. It means writing on a panoply of topics—crime, movies, sports, politics, etc. But it also means writing or posting on all the different things that make America a failed state. (There. I said the f-word.)
I’m not running for office, so I don’t have to force myself to sound optimistic.
Sincerely,
Nicholas Stix
