ELECTRIC COMPANIES SEND OUT ALL WHITES TO REPAIR STORM DAMAGE IN GRAND RAPIDS--NO bLACKS WERE INVOLVED IN POWER RESTORATION

(GRA)The power came back on at 3 am Monday morning,28 hours after damaging winds roared through the West Side of Grand Rapids,Saturday night.

Around 10 pm,Saturday,I watched a pretty breezy storm come through and almost immediately, the power disappeared.Tbe winds were not above 40 mph at my house--based on the tree reaction I observed from my porch.

Around midnight,I decided to take a drive and see who had lights and who didn't.As I went to the east,I was met with trees in the road, trees suspended on power lines and trees on houses. Those types of winds had missed my block but absolutely ravaged neighborhoods east of me.I anticipated no power for days.

Yesterday,Sunday, crews were out at an area of major damage,a couple blocks away.By this time, the road was open and I was able to drive around and take a look at the side streets--many of which were closed--due to trees in the road.

At every scene of damage,100% of the electric company employees were White--which I found very telling.I walked over to talk with one of the crew--a very intelligent young guy in his late 20s--who explained what was happening.

"There's a lot of damage," he stated,"but this area has nothing to do with your area."
"The phone update said power would be back at 430p.m.--I don't believe it"--I told him.

"No,they're lying," he replied.

The electric company revised their reconnect time to 330p.m. on Monday, but early this morning, the air condition, lights and TV set all went on--a mere 28 hours after this big storm had hit.

I attribute the efficiency of the work to the people being all White. When the chips are down,Whitey is still the one to get things done the right way.I'm very grateful for their ability to do the job--which,obviously,blacks CANNOT do--based on what I observed the last 24 hours.

Kalamazoo? It often surprises me that what I call small town America cities such as Kalamazoo MI or Benton Harbor MI or Kokomo IN have fairly large populations of negroes often quite restive.

A legacy of the Great Migration north seeking industrial work.
