17 men, including one policeman, were indicted in West Yorkshire, England for grooming girls as young as 13 for purposes of prostitution, yesterday.
An investigation by child welfare agents found that Amjid Ditta, 35, and 16 men from the borough of Calderdale assaulted teenagers aged 13 - 16 over several years.
Charges include providing narcotics to minors, trafficking, sexual assault and rape.
A review of those arrested suggest all but one are of Pakistani Muslim derivation.
Unbelievably, Ditta was assigned to Protective Services Operations where he helped conceal the actions of his co-religionists for at least a decade.
All 17 defendants promised to appear in Bradford Court, January 6, and were released.
Those accused include Sajid Adalat, 46, Mohammed Iqbal, 34, Ishtiaq Latif, 34, Younis Mohammed, 34, Asad Mahmood, 33, Vaqaas Abbas, 30, Nadeem Adalat, 34, and Shazad Nazir, 44.
Also facing allegations are Sohail Zafar, 36, Vaseem Adalat, 33, Nadeem Nazir, 39, Shazhad Nawaz, 40, Arfan Mir, 36, Khalifa Mughal, 36, Metab Islam 34, Christopher Eastwood, 45, and Ditta.
Many of those charged were engaged in the Halifax area taxi trade.
Revelations follow a familiar pattern first noticed in Britain in the 1990s. A schoolmate befriends a young girl and showers her with gifts and compliments.
“Uncles” of the boy chauffeur the two about town. Later the boy asks the girl to share her affections with older relatives and the horror begins.
In innumerable case studies persons held suspicions about what later become public knowledge. In every circumstance, observers explained their reluctance to come forward as fearing to be labeled “racist.”

To date, the financier has spent more than $100 million introducing himself to voters in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia who go to the polls on Super Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Bloomberg is betting no frontrunner will be in place, and that his candidacy will be poised to grab momentum leading to the Milwaukee convention in July.
