From Ted Williams, Washington Senators, Manager, a four-page letter defining his theories on hitting, sent to Jay Johnstone, OF, California Angels, during the winter of 1968-69, in reply to a letter of request for advice on hitting.

I remember Jay Johnstone. I believe he played with the White Sox after California,for a couple years. Left handed hitter--not great. Some power. No Ted Williams--but who was?

DICK VAN DYKE TURNS 100 ON SATURDAY;HE'S PUSHING A BOOK ON HOW TO LIVE THAT LONG(IN SPITE OF DRINKING AND SMOKING)
GRA:"Nightline" had an 8 minute story on Mr Van Dyke,who is 99 years,364 days old today.
He sat and talked with an abc reporter and it was obvious he was appearing to push his book,"100 Ways to Live to be 100".
Then pictures of him,through the years,with a cigarette, appeared on-screen. I didn't know he smoked.Already well known was his alcoholism.
Drinking and smoking.If you want to find the other 98 secret ways to live to 100,you'll have to buy the book.
"I have no pain,"he said,"I work out,with my wife,three days a week,"though he's hunched over some and talks with a slight bit of a mumble.
"I've got more to do,I want to play Scrooge,"he told The reporter.
I'm tempted to write,"bah,humbug--no way",but who knows? If Bruce Willis could make movies while having dementia,anything's possible with Dick Van Dyke's dream of acting as Ebenezer Scrooge--at age 100.
His youngish wife said,"I'm happy to take care of him,he's brought many people lots of laughs and entertainment."
Then she looked at the safe,where the Van Dyke will is stored--and smiled.
Okay,I made up that last sentence.
