Is Martin Short about to get "suicided" yet again? Decades of rubbish revivals hit him, too

I wish you well, Mr. Short (on the Match Game revival). But I'm not hopeful.
Years of tacky failed revivals of the classics in the late 20th century, followed by years of even more tacky failures in the 21st. It adds up to decades of rubbish revivals. It's still "decades" if you only count Steve Harvey, who just won't go away.
Excerpt from commentators at a long-long-ago boxing coverage on ESPN, mid-round:
"He kind of looks like Martin Short."
"Oh, yes. You're right, there is a resemblance."
Then mere seconds later,
"Now he looks like Martin Short getting beat up!"
N.S.: Martin Short was one of the few great talents to come out of saturday night live. But the network (NBC?) that gave him his own show (1999-2000), gave him a suicide slot, and so his variety show sank without a trace. They did the same thing to Dana Carvey (1996) and Ellen Cleghorne (1995).
Although they have worked regularly, I consider Short, Carvey, and John Goodman to be three of the great wasted talents of modern hollywood.
