What's the world coming to? The Liberia colony that didn't work out and “dropping like flies” in D.C. and now this: blacks calling for boycott of african braid shops, starting august 1. That's FRIDAY. Ms. Diallo of the Solid Rock better keep an eye on the roof and her weave both. Call nantucket, get John Kerry to come as a special envoy to mediate this!

I’m showing my support because I do this in my everyday life,” she said. “ain’t no african ever braided my hair, put their hands in my head or none of that.” (Her video is the third one embedded in the article) “expressing frustration over what she sees as a lack of cultural identity and the ongoing separation between african american and black american communities.

Huh! For what it's worth, a colleague in the college faculty world once told me that at the nearby hbcu, there were lots of africans on the faculty and they had little regard for the usa black students. Who knew it would come back to bite them in a braid boycott, or a “blackout” as the woman in the video called it.
