Reminded me that a few months ago, CLASSIC IMAGES celebrated a street being named after the Communist actor-singer Theodore Bikel (In California, I'm certain.) Of his role in the heavy-handed TWILIGHT ZONE episode "Four 0'Clock," Bikel said he really enjoyed Serling giving him the opportunity to play "a right-wing nut-job."
I recently suffered through a GUNSMOKE episode which guest-starred Bikel, courtesy of the show's new season 10 producer, Philip Leacock, who wanted more "social relevance" in the series. He sang constantly through the episode, in a jarringly modern style, and he was surely a better actor than singer! (Though everyone in the show kept saying how wonderful he was!)

Am I totally out of it,but yesterday, when abc noise teased the 6:30 broadcast," a long time legendary actor has died,"I thought, well Nicholson's dead,or maybe Pacino,Beatty,Hoffman,Redford. It wasn't any of the above, but Jack probably said--watching this--"Hellooo,am I freakin' DEAD?"
They mentioned it before every commercial break.
Turns out the "legendary" actor was Michael Madsen.WHO?
If HE'S legendary, then what are the other actors I mentioned to be described as?
Media has elevated nobodies to icon status, calls everyday going ons as "historic" while lying about anything they feel like lying about.
"Legendary?"He's so legendary,I had to google him to see what roles he's played, what movies or tv shows he's been in. I had him confused with Dean Winters--the "Mayhem" guy.
I discovered Madsen had screen credits in "Thelma and Louise" and "Reservoir Dogs"(did not know that),"War Games" and "The Natural"(had no idea),but a lot of crummy movies too(that,I figured).
Bottom line,"In 2025,yesterday's nobodies are today's legends."
