Monticello has and continues to assert that Jefferson without question fathered all of Sally Hemings' children. The evidence, they assert, is biological, statistical, and historical, and the convergence of the three, they maintain, leaves no doubt of Jefferson's involvement with Hemings. Yet each of the three strains is individually unpersuasive, and uncogently so, and it is probatively unavailing to "add together" the three unique and unpersuasive and uncogent arguments to create (somehow!) a foolproof argument for Jefferson's paternity. Yet that is just what they have done. What is most intriguing is that Monticello steadfastly refuses consider the possibility of Jefferson's noninvolvement with Hemings. They shun any degree of open discussion of the issue, though further critical investigation and further DNA studies might add significant light on the issue. In the house of America's greatest liberal (in the Lockean or Millean sense), they practice FASCISM!
