"Ivan Boesky, stock trader convicted in insider trading scandal, dead at 87"

https://sfgate.com/business/article/ivan-boesky-stock-trader-convicted-in-insider-19468252.php

"Ivan F. Boesky, the flamboyant stock trader whose cooperation with the government cracked..."

N.S.: When Boesky was constantly in the news, in late 1987-early '88, I was working in a boiler room operation at Columbia university, raising money from recalcitrant alumni who had never given their alma mater a dime. One cute little jap coed doted on Boesky, who had joined her shule, for pr purposes. One day she fluttered, "Somebody tried to kill Ivan!" Yeah, "Ivan."

The would-be assassin obviously didn't try hard enough.

The NYT obituary headline says his downfall ended the "decade of greed" -perpetuating the slander that Wall Street/big business criminality had something to do with Republicans being in charge- as if the same thing isn't going on today, only 100 times worse! (And with government types caught doing insider trading as well, and of course going unpunished...)

Ivan and Michael Milikin spent I think a year each in Club Fed, Eglin AFB FLA. Not bad for bad guys.
