N.S.: When I heard of Herb Stempel in the '90s, I instantly identified with him.

As part of the "script," Herb Stempel had to pretend he didn't know what movie won the Academy Award for best picture for 1955. He said On the Waterfront, when actually it was Marty, his favorite.

I was 8 years old when the story broke and can remember the Quiz Shows. Big news at the time though people didn't get hysterical the way they do now.
