By the way, the person who posted the video is definitely West Indian. That’s exactly the way people say “thieves” in Trinidad.
In 2006, I was in a car full of laborers, on our way to dig my mother-in-law’s grave, as we passed a new housing development there, where sugar fields had previously stood.
I asked one of the workers, Gopaul, “Who lives there?”
He answered, short and sweet: “Tief.”
Translation: Black criminals.
