Not “safer”...Thugs shoot a 66-year-old guy walking his dog: It’s a mex neighborhood
“chicago (wls) — a concealed-carry license holder was wounded in a shootout with two suspects in Pilsen tuesday morning, chicago police said.
“the shooting took place at about 5:51 a.m. in the 1100-block of west Cullerton street.
“police said the 66-year-old victim saw two suspects near a parked vehicle and got into a verbal altercation with them.
[N.S.: First of all, that’s terrible English. An “altercation” means a violent incident, which it wasn’t yet. And two words? Why? In English, you say, “got into an argument with them.” But that’s surely a lie, too. When black or hispanic thugs attack a law-abiding citizen, the cops always lie and say that the vic got into a “verbal dispute” with the perps.]
“the suspects then displayed a firearm and there was an exchange of gunfire with the victim, who has a valid firearm owners identification card, police said.
“David Villalobos said the suspects were trying to carjack someone. he said he’s fortunate to be alive, let alone home from the hospital already.
“he was walking his dog, when he spotted the suspects.”
[GRA: That’s no time to be “walking your dog.”] “‘it was a superficial wound. but it went in and out, and I thank God for that,’ Villalobos said.
“he was shot in the leg, and taken to Stroger hospital in good condition.
“tuesday afternoon a simple bandage was covering the wound.
“‘it’s getting bad again in the neighborhood. it’s getting bad again,’ Villalobos said.”
[GRA: GETTING bad?]
“he said the suspects were tapping on the window of the car initially.
“‘I thought it was a phone to a guy, and then I seen him sticking a gun to the guy’s head. and he tells me, “hey, old man, you know, and I’m looking get the f out of here before I shoot you,”’ Villalobos said.
“before he had a chance to heed the person’s warning, shots were fired.”
[What’s with the passive voice crap?! And what’s with the whole friggin’ sentence. “Heed the person’s warning” makes it sound as if the bad guy was a good guy! A proper reporter would have written something like this: “‘and he tells me,’ “hey, old man, I’m looking get the f out of here before I shoot you,”’ Villalobos said,” and then the carjacker immediately shot him!]
“‘he drew his weapon, and he shot. and I moved as fast as I could. I returned fire,’ Villalobos said. ‘I’m thinking about going home, see my wife, my grandkids. you know, that’s what I’m thinking. I’m not thinking about shooting the guy. I was very hesitant to do so. It’s getting rough in chicago, and, mayor Johnson, you ain’t got enough police force.’”
“cellphone video captured by a neighbor shows the suspects ducking.”

N.S.: Villalobos said what he did (“I was very hesitant to do so”) to protect himself from attacks by the chicago pd and the state’s attorney, both of whom are the criminals’ best friends. If he had really hesitated, he might have died.
