"would-be attacker stabbed multiple times after wild caught-on-camera ambush of nyc couple"

"surveillance footage shows the man tossing his coat on the ground before pouncing on the man, who was riding a scooter alongside the woman and pup."

This is a terribly written article. By the time I'd read it twice, it sounded as though both perp and vic had multiple stab wounds. However, before I'd done that, it sounded as if now the perp and now the vic had multiple stab wounds. I don't trust the alleged reporters or their editors. However, what is clear is that this crime was committed on a very busy street in a business direct at 2:45 p.m., wednesday, a school day (oh, silly me!).

"Blood clean-up on aisle 4."

Or whatever street this occurred on.

Re: your comment on the poor writing. Note TWO names in the by-line. Yes, of course, both have Journalism (ooooh! aaaah!) degrees, CUNY and SUNY.

I think that if I owned a newspaper, I'd give preference to applicants with degrees in old-fashioned, traditional, boring areas: English, History, Philosophy. Checking transcripts, of course, and asking questions to see if they knew anything, particularly Western Civ. They would have a solid base; the professional journalist skills would follow naturally. "Journalism" should be a couple of elective courses, not an entire program.

And if Bob Woodward disagrees, good; it means I made my point.
