Both the university of florida and Georgia tech are top-tier research institutions.
And the university of illinois is renowned for its physics and computer science programs.

"Research institution" = immigration magnet for Indians (at least upper caste), Chinese (spies), even Africans, sometimes an occasional white European to come for a free ride at expense of taxpayers and donors. A cheap training ground for Wall St., defense firms, pharma, etc. for invaders on the first rung of the visa-and-riches ladder. The professoriate is just as wacko left as that at any of the Poison Ivy schools; take a stroll through the halls and look at what they post on their office doors. (e.g., three words, "Professor Michael Mann").
So yes, have a laugh at Harvard and all, but the rot runs deeper and wider than you think.
Georgia Tech. Cal Tech. Etc. Yes, let the old time schools go and let them be replace.
