files on the uvalde mass murder would supposedly shed light on the cowardly police response that day, in which officers waited more than an hour in the hallway outside the classroom to confront the shooter, after learning he had an ar-15 style rifle.

Remember the Las Vegas mass shooting from the window of a hotel in which the police huddled in a stairwell for a very long time instead of breaking into the room to stop the shooter? The moral of these stories is that the police cannot be counted on to arrive in a timely manner and take action immediately. The answer is to train and arm teachers so there is someone already on the spot who is able to take action instantly to limit the number of people shot. Preference should be given to veterans with combat experience to insure that brave, competent shooters are there to protect children. If schools fail to protect children in this way, parents should withdraw their children and either home school or find schools with the ability to protect students. For the idiot gun-hating leftists who would object to this policy--let them choose schools declaring a gun-free zone. Guess which school the killers will choose--the gun-free school or the pne with trained marksmen on guard.
