Frasier reboot (contrary to critics’ reviews) is pretty good.

GRA: Frasier was one of the great shows in tv history, a stalwart cast, sophisticated, yet often slapstick, farcical comedy, mixed in with top-notch writing.

Twenty-two years later, Kelsey Grammar is back to bring us a pretty darned good first episode (available on youtube).

Since I don’t subscribe to paramounttv, I eagerly awaited overnight reviews last Friday, hoping for positive reports. Instead, usa today savaged the show, calling it, “totally devoid of laughs.” The ny times agreed almost word for word. Only a couple media sites gave the show a passing grade.

Today, however, the first new Frasier episode popped up on youtube—I watched it—and I could not disagree more with the idiot reviewers mentioned above: It is a warm, charming, and funny show—with much of the same style of comedy as the original. Many episodes of the ‘90s Frasier revolved around misunderstandings taken to even greater misunderstandings and much hilarity.

Here in the reboot premier, Frasier, attempting to revive a relationship with his son, Frederick, appears at his apartment, out of the blue, and immediately thinks his son is the father of a baby boy and is lying about it. At the end, Frasier solves everyone’s (including the fake girlfriend and baby) problems with a wave of his hand—all, I thought—done with much aplomb and laughs.

4**** out of 5
(One black character-non essential)

A GRUDGING ADMISSION THAT "FRASIER" MIGHT BE ALL RIGHT

Maggie Horton at yahoo
(yahoo)"The Frasier reboot is officially streaming now on Paramount+ and broadcasting on CBS, and it seems to be more of a hit than most people anticipated."

GRA:I'm rooting for it,though I'm begging them not to make the black female an integral part of the show--especially romantically--with any of the White characters.

The key will be the second week's ratings. The first week was okay,Nielsen-wise,but old fans tuning in and curiousity types need to stick around for "Frasier" to be picked up for future episodes.
