Happened all over the country, "stand down". So not necessarily news or surprising.

This is one reason police chiefs should be like sheriffs and elected not appointed or hired by a mayor or city manager and sitting under one or the other in a command org chart and so bound to take orders from them, including "stand down" orders. They should be bound to an oath to uphold the law, not obey a mayor.

So "back the blue" is really "back the people who do whatever the mayor or some other politician or political appointee tells them to do". No thanks.

All you can do is shake your head at idiots like de Blasio. He wasn't a "White mayor" and the odds nyc sees a mayor who IS White--ever again--is low.

Poor Melissa DeRosa. She thought she'd be riding the Cuomo Express direct to the White House right now.

YES! Give the villains room to riot for a spell. Never try to stop the riot. You only make the villains even more angrier. That is the liberal/left paradigm.

22 yr. old black woman is stabbed to death in Portland Friday night. Police announced no suspects or suspect information is being released.

Almost certain it's a black perp and these kind of murders are so common they barely get noticed anymore. I try to follow the stories but usually lose track of them because you never know when police or the media follow up on them, if they even do that is. Media gets most hysterical when it's a White perp and black victim, which is rare but when it happens...look out. We're still getting regular updates on that White guy who stabbed two black guys on a Max train a couple months ago.

"you never know when police or the media follow up on them"

Most news outlets have some sort of email service. Often they send digests of stories they just published or updated, and include links.

Sign up for their newsletters...ha ha, you're funny eahilf, though I don't think intentionally. Sure pal, I'm going to hand my email to every local news outlet along with the national ones and watch as my mailbox blows up exponentially with notifications. But yeah, I'm signed up with some but you have to draw the line somewhere. Maybe you've got time to sort through endless emails, but I don't, which is because I've got a life, I'm not sure what it is that you have.

Email notifications are the equivalent of token back page mention and most Americans only know what they see in those headlines, if a story doesn't get top level coverage, public awareness is minimal. That's why I pointed out the relentless coverage of the recent stabbing by a White guy, THAT story got the kind of coverage the public won't forget. So yeah, if you really paid attention and could perceive certain patterns, you'd notice how race determines how certain stories receive that kind of coverage and others do not.

When I write things like this about the media, it's about how the typical American is influenced by story placement, not more well read and thoughtful NSU readers. Are you ever going to figure that out?
