"‘I haven't been the same since’: this tiktoker was shocked to find out that buc-ee's pays janitors the same wage as her office job — why the demand for blue-collar work is soaring"
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/havent-same-since-tiktoker-shocked-120000186.html>In other words, the owners of buc-ee's treat their employees as valued associates.
Amazing.
So, no shortage of native-born Americans who will do scut work, as long as these Americans are treated well and paid well.
Amazing.
Fu--ing amazing.
And I bet lots of these folks are native born whites.
So much for "labor shortages" and "there are jobs that Americans won't do."
It's only fu--ing amazing to fu--ing a--hole elites like George "Dubya" Bush.

It's because Bush, Vallario (see what some of his house colleagues think of him here), and their beltway cronies have never done scut work.
By the way, folks will go out of their way to buy gasoline and diesel at buc'ee's.
Some patrons will even drive up to 30 minutes out of their way to shop at buc'ee's.
Why?
It's because buc'ee's restrooms are antiseptically clean.
And its founder believes in the social contract.

Doing the most mundane things extremely well has lead to Alpin being a multimillionaire.
BTW, I betcha employee turnover at buc'ee's is nil.

No Buc'ees in Michigan--I don't think--definitely not GR.My advice would be to continue to avoid this area.

Travel the blue highways and backroads of the US and you will see Americans doing the jobs they supposedly are unwilling to do.
Paying everyone a fair, decent wage is important.
And while I have no opinion about whether an office worker should be paid more or less than a janitor, hierarchy is also important. People who do important work need to feel they are important and are being properly rewarded. Otherwise they will go somewhere else.
As a general work experience, there are few things worse than working where everyone is treated the same. Where hard work and excellence are not recognized. It destroys morale and camaraderie. If you know you are much better and more productive than someone else, yet you are paid roughly the same and receive the same rating at review time, why would you stay at such a place?
In this sense, 'at will' employment is also a good thing. Competent, hard working, motivated people have nothing to fear in my experience. Slackers should worry though. And that is overall a good thing. I wish no one ill, but getting rid of deadwood can improve the atmosphere of any workplace. I know, I experienced it.

Correct. Last place I worked before retirement the entire plant immaculate with one native born American for cleaning "crew".
