"The path to today started back in summer 2021, when a new employee named Jamal (his real name, folks) was assigned to my aerodynamics engineering section. Before Jamal, everybody in aero possessed engineering & related science degrees (physics in my case)."

Like the black "computer science" major I recruited years ago to work for a small consulting firm here in dallas.

Gary had been hired by Rebecca as an entry-level programmer.

It had taken Gary over 15 years to finally earn his undergrad degree from the university of texas at dallas.

Rebecca had mwob (minority and women-owned business) contract with bp.

She had placed him with bp. He was hired to work on a sharepoint contract.

Not long after starting with bp he "blew away" a sharepoint installation in the "cloud."

Cost Rebecca her contract.

Cost bp big bucks to reload the data.

We had a Mex national at my last job who was HEAD of the IT department. He had no IT education, the company MADE him go out and get a GED, the man could barely speak a word of English. Finally was fired when he was caught running a business using company computers to do so.

Anytime an IT problem needed to be solved he would tell you just to turn the computer off and on an allow the machine to reboot.
