Susie Mowbray was charged for her husband Bill Mowbray’s death. Her son was so convinced of her innocence that he enrolled in law school, studied all of the evidence and, eventually, discovered the truth of what really happened between his parents.
N.S.: That last sentence above is simply not at all true.
• Susie Mowbray’s statements about her husband’s death were all transparent lies;
• A day earlier, Susie had learned that the time limit was about to run out, during which Bill could commit suicide, and she could still collect on his life insurance policy (yes, there was a law at the time, in their state that allowed for that!), and that in days Bill's beneficiary was going to change from her to his daughter from an earlier marriage;
• Immediately after Susie allegedly found Bill’s corpse, she showed no emotion, and stood outside relaxed, with a cigarette in one hand, and a glass of wine in the other;
• Less than ten hours after Bill’s death, Susie held a “painting party” with friends, which obliterated the crime scene;
• The only time Susie showed any emotion was just before the jury in her re-trial was about to leave for the jury room to deliberate. (She’d been convicted, the first time around, and spent nine years in the slammer, so the people weren’t completely cheated.); and
• Police crime scene investigators had botched the job of collecting and preserving crime scene evidence.
