Game two of the New York Mets’ faux season was as bizarre as the first one was Tuesday, with the Mets having their hitting shoes on against Washingtion Nationals ace Max Scherzer from the first pitch.
The Mets batted around in the first inning, added three runs in the second and third innings to take a 12-run lead on a beautifully sunny day at Shea Stadium.
But almost impossibly, clouds gathered literally and figuratively, when with two outs in the top of the fifth, a squall line came crashing through with high winds, lightning and two inches of rain in 15 minutes. After talking with the National Weather Service, umpires called the game, one out before it became official—meaning no Mets win.
Immediately afterwards, player/manager Pete Alonzo was fired by GM Brody Van Wagenen for failing to bring home a victory.
“I made it clear to Pete that if he didn't win the game on Wednesday, he would be replaced. He didn’t win—so I fired him.
This will be the criteria of all subsequent managers I hire from here on out—you win, you stay—you lose, you’re fired.”
Van Wagenen replaced Alonzo with Trump personal lawyer and former mayor, Rudy Giuliani.
“Pete should have known that scoring 12 runs would take too much time and cause the game to be wiped out. Hopefully, Manager Rudy will learn from Pete’s mistake.”
Game time tomorrow is scheduled for 1:15 p.m., weather permitting. Starters are to be announced.

METS FORFEIT FINALE OF SERIES AS MANAGER GIULIANI INSTITUTES "STOP AND FRISK"--FAILS TO FIELD ENOUGH PLAYERS AS A RESULT.
New manager Rudy Giuliani's first move as Mets skipper was to initiate a "stop and frisk" search of his players as they entered the locker room,which resulted in the confiscation of 32 guns,knives and brass knuckles from 20 of the 25 players.Only former manager Pete Alonso and pitchers Steve Matz,Jacob DeGrom,Michael Wacha and Noah Snydergaard were found to be weaponless.As a consequence of the surprise move,those 20 players--discovered to be "packing"--were ruled ineligible for the game,causing the Mets to forfeit the contest,due to a lack of players.
The defeat dropped the Mets to 0-2 on the young season.
The loss triggered the automatic firing of the former mayor of NYC by GM Brodie Van Wagenen.
"We will continue to search for a manager who can win a game around here,"said Van Wagenen.
The Mets have tomorrow off and Van Wagenen will use the time to find his fourth manager in 4 days.
The players who were suspended,will be reinstated pending further review by the team.
