The "Lawyer" was representing the suspect.
The headline for The Columbia Daily Spectator was "Judge rules 13-year old suspect likely to have participated in Tessa Majors' death, prompting trial."
Somewhat more true to what transpired at the hearing.

As of Midnight Wednesday Night-Thursday Morning the NYPD hasn't caught the 14-year old. It's been some five days.
TWO BLACKIES ARRESTED IN NOV 20TH MURDER OF WHITE PROFESSOR
(AL.com)Mobile police announced the arrests Friday of two young men(GRA:translated to thug nigs) charged in the slaying of University of South Alabama professor Matthew Wiser.
Wiser, 39, was found shot to death Nov. 20 at his home at the 3400 block of Gaillard Road. University police had gone to the home to check on him after Wiser’s work colleagues became concerned about his whereabouts.
Charged with one count of murder each are Derric Scott and Tiquez Timmons, both 20.
Police Chief Lawrence Battiste said that the charge could be upgraded, or further charges filed, once the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office enters the case.
The crime was an apparent home invasion. Battiste said that Wiser’s home had been “broken into” during the evening.
The chief did not rule out others possibly being involved in the crime.
“I am extremely proud of the work that the men and women of the Mobile Police Department homicide unit have done in this particular case, because it was one of those cases where there really wasn’t a whole lot of evidence for us to act on. But because of their experience and their ability in doing their jobs, they were able to pick out the most minute of things and be able to act on that, which really bought us to the point where we are today,” Battiste said.
He said, “I hope that this brings some semblance of closure to the family.”
Battiste said that, to his knowledge, Scott and Timmons were not students at South Alabama. He said that police had not previously had any “encounters” with the two young men(GRA:The pair of burrhead felons had avoided police so far).
Timmons had nothing to say to reporters who watched him taken from the Police Headquarters building to a police cruiser, to be transported to Metro Jail.
Scott, meanwhile, thrice told reporters, “I don’t know what y’all are talking about” when they shouted questions to him. As he was placed into a police cruiser, he said, “I want mama to know I love her.”(GRA:Translated:"I did it,I shot that cracka--sorry I fu**ed up not gettin' killed by the PO-lice--so you could win the black lotto, momma.")
Wiser was an associate professor of economics and finance specializing in game theory and mathematics in the University of South Alabama’s Mitchell College of Business. He held a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Rochester and two master degrees and a doctoral degree in economics from Louisiana State University.
